UDP party leader and Secretary General, Ousainou Darboe, has sought to assure party faithful he will clinch the race for presidency in 2021 elections, even as he lays out his ambitious plans for the country.
During his address to the party at the culmination of a three day congress in Bufffer Zone, Darboe said.
“You will be at my inauguration in January after the elections by the grace of Allah. You will be with me and we shall start the work and action from day one. We have laid down strategies and policies to take on the problems of unemployment facing youths and reform the education sector to provide the much needed training for the work force.
We will not be like others who ignore the problems of the youth until closer to the elections when they show up to ask for their votes. We will create conditions for young people to go to school and learn skills that will land them a job after school. We will make sure 25% of contracts go to Gambian youth”.
