It has come to the attention of the United Democratic Party youth wing that a military officer has yesterday threatened and tried to intimidate MC Cham Jr, the National youth president of the GDC for criticising the current government.
The United Democratic Party Youth Wing will like to make it very clear to the public that we will not sit back and watch other young people be intimidated and threatened for speaking their mind and exercising their democratic rights as citizens of The Gambia.
When we headed out on the morning of the 1st of December to cast our votes, we voted against a system that tortured, kidnapped, murdered and Intimidated peace loving Gambians. We will not sit by and watch history reoccur without putting a stop to it.
The UDP youth wing will want to tell the GDC national youth president that we are with him in these trying times and see him as a counterpart in national development, that being said, we will not let any apparatus of the state threaten to limit the sovereignty of any Gambian.
We hope the government will do a thorough investigation in these allegations and put a stop to it. We will also want to remind our security forces that their role is to protect and secure Gambians and not to intimidate us, that we will not allow anyone to take us back to the dark ages.
National Secretary General
UDP Youth Wing
Hon. Kemo Bojang
