Sambuyang, Feb 28, 2025 – The Sambuyang Village Development Committee (VDC) has donated a fully equipped ambulance to the Sambuyang Health Facility, a move aimed at improving emergency healthcare services for the community.
The official handover ceremony took place on Thursday, 27th February, with key stakeholders in attendance. The Chief of Kombo South, Falalo M. Touray, was represented by his wife, who presented the ambulance keys to an official from the Regional Health Directorate. The donation, valued at over D600,000, is expected to enhance patient transportation and emergency response in Sambuyang.
The event was attended by the Gunjur Ward Councillor, the Community Development Official, the Village Alkalo, and his Council of Elders, along with community members who welcomed the initiative.
Speaking at the ceremony, representatives from the Regional Health Directorate expressed gratitude for the donation, emphasising the critical role it will play in saving lives and improving healthcare accessibility in the area. They commended the Sambuyang VDC for its dedication to community welfare and encouraged further collaborations for sustainable healthcare development.
The Village Alkalo, also praised the initiative, stating that the ambulance will ease transportation challenges faced by residents, especially in emergencies. He urged the community to take responsibility for maintaining the vehicle to ensure its long-term effectiveness.
