Sabally’s struggles in the arena of politics which led to his detention is motivated by his desire to see a better life for the people of The Gambia.
These comments were made by his wife, Jai Sarr who, between sobs and tears, told Kerr Fatou in an exclusive interview:
“He has always been passionate about the youth. That’s his passion and work. He always wanted to motivate and support them because he knows their problems.
He knows the suffering of people in this country and he is always saying it. People are really suffering in this country. There are some families in the Greater Banjul Area who have only one meal a day”.
Mrs. Sabally maintained that the government should come up with a more sustainable solution to the cost of living crisis than piling the blame on the war in Ukraine.
Despite his detention, she revealed, her husband remains in great spirits “because he is a man of faith and that’s something we have all learned from him”.
