Red Star FC is through to the semi-finals of the GSC Knock-Out competition following a confident 2-0 victory over Gibakoto United earlier today at the Nyamina Football Field.
The match began as a cagey affair, but Red Star soon found their rhythm. The breakthrough came in the 31st minute when Abdoulie Darboe capitalised on a mistake by the Gibakoto United goalkeeper. A lapse in concentration outside the six-yard box allowed Darboe to pounce and calmly slot the ball into the net, giving Red Star a deserved 1-0 lead that they held until halftime.
The second half started brightly for Red Star, and it didn’t take long for them to double their advantage. Just five minutes after the restart, Mufugi Demba added his name to the scoresheet with a decisive finish, putting Red Star in full control.
Demba came close to scoring again later in the game. He dispossessed the Gibakoto United goalkeeper, who was attempting a risky dribble, but failed to find the back of the net. Despite the missed chance, Red Star maintained their composure and saw out the match with ease.
Gibakoto United struggled to recover from their defensive errors and failed to threaten the Red Star defense meaningfully.
With this victory, Red Star FC joins Global FC in the semi-finals, where they will aim to continue their strong form and push for the GSC Knock-Out title.
