By Sainey Darboe:
Amid intense jousting and jostling for State House in 2021, President Adama Barrow has hinted at the possibility of getting above the fray and letting others contest for the presidency.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Paradise TV in Banjul on the question of setting up his own party amid ugly fallout with United Democratic Party, Barrow demurred:
“It’s possible I will not be part of it. It’s possible I will leave it to others to contest and see who wins”.
Reeling with a sense of incredulity at the president’s unexpected comment, television host Harona Drammeh quipped whether the president would then be a referee to proceedings in 2021.
“I will not even do that because then they will say I am not fair”, declared the president at the tail end of a lengthy interview broadcast over the weekend.
