In the wake of the recent cabinet reshuffle, I would like to thank former Vice President, Ousainou Darboe for his sacrifices and service to the nation. Mr. Darboe has indeed demonstrated what it truly means to be a patriot in the past two decades. He has been a formidable force of change in The Gambia.
Similarly, I would like to congratulate Dr. Isatou Touray on her appointment as our New Vice President. Dr. Isatou Touray brings with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise that could positively shape governance in the Gambia.
In light of the respective political alignments across party lines which is evident of all transitioning societies, it is important that citizens engage each other in civility and collectively protect our common goodness of peace, progress and stability as dictated by the constitution. Transitioning periods are defining moments requiring collective responsibility to promote social cohesion and support of the national development agenda.
Perhaps we must all learn that politics and governance are defined by a complex interaction of power, interest and institutions for the common goodness of a nation.
Together we can make The Gambia a Bastion of hope for many generations.
