Outspoken human rights activist, Madi Jobarteh, has called for seismic shift to arrest the coarsening of culture in The Gambia and replacing it with a better one.
In his statement of solidarity to Mama Linguere Sarr who lamented blitz attacks on her person amid furore at Social Security, Madi Jobarteh declared:
“I have abandoned this society a long time ago! That’s why I am such a happy, healthy and energetic guy!!!! I have no high expectations of anyone! I am not surprised by anyone and I do not feel disappointed by anyone. Rather I just get vindicated everyday by our people. When they shout those high sounding slogans as if they created and owned God Himself I only see another performance to enjoy and laugh!
The more we perform the more I see the dishonesty and hypocrisy! This society believes in nothing! Absolutely nothing! For me, this society is so decadent that it is irredeemable. It has to be killed for a new society of values to emerge! Trust me”.
