Hon. Omar A. Manjang, the National Youth Parliamentarian representing Kombo South, is currently participating in a strategic workshop focused on empowering youth for Responsible Agricultural Investment (RAI). The workshop aims to equip young people with the knowledge and tools necessary to drive sustainable agricultural development in The Gambia.
On the second day of the workshop, participants engaged in the validation of learning modules designed to enhance youth capacity in agri-business and responsible investment practices. Additionally, the session featured a presentation on the Agri-Accelerator Hub, an initiative aimed at providing young entrepreneurs with access to mentorship, funding, and technical support to scale their agricultural ventures.
The workshop, held at Alliance Française, was organised by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), GambiaTech, The Gambia Ministry of Agriculture, and the French Embassy. It brought together key stakeholders from across the country, including policymakers, agricultural experts, and youth representatives, to discuss strategies for transforming the agri-food system.
Hon. Manjang has always emphasised the critical role of young people in shaping the future of agriculture, highlighting the need for capacity building, financial support, and innovative approaches to address challenges in the sector. He reiterated his commitment to advocating for policies that create opportunities for youth engagement in agriculture and agribusiness.
The workshop underscored the collective efforts of local and international partners in fostering youth-led agricultural initiatives that contribute to food security, economic growth, and sustainable development in The Gambia.
