JUST IN: SeneGambian Community in Bristol Mourns the Killing of Kunta Ceesay

The SeneGambian community in Bristol, UK, is mourning the tragic death of Kunta Ceesay, a Gambian-born man believed to have hailed from Brikama, West Coast. Ceesay was fatally stabbed in Easton, a neighbourhood in the city, on afternoon of Friday, 20th September 2024. He is believed to be in his mid 20s.

Kunta had spent his final hours chatting with friends at the shop of Gunjur-born businessman Kalifa Saho. Shortly after leaving the shop, he visited another Gambian gathering spot in the city. Within a matter of an hour, he was stabbed and succumbed to his injuries and later pronounced dead at Southmead Hospital.

A close acquaintance, FaKebba Bojang, who had been with Kunta at the shop just barely an hour before the incident, expressed his shock on the news of Ceesay’s death:

“How short life could be sometimes.. I was with this brother inside Neephy Foodstore just a couple of hours before he got stabbed to death in Easton.. Little did I know he was a dead man walking out of the shop just gone past 15:37pm.. May the Almighty Allah forgive all his moral shortfalls and reward him in Jannatul Firdawsi.."

Kunta Ceesay’s death is being treated as a murder, and investigations are ongoing. The SeneGambian community, still reeling from the shock, is awaiting further developments. The alleged killer remained at large.

However, barely twenty-four hours after the fatal stabbing of Kunta Ceesay, his killer was apprehended and subsequently arrested by the Avon and Somerset Police detectives through the efforts of Kunta’s friends who did everything to locate the man who stabbed before alerting the police to come and arrest him.
