By Omar Jatta:
Bakary Jatta got his sweet revenge over the club behind the Identity fraud saga that marred his season.
The Gambian midfielder was the hero at the Volksparkstadion this evening after serving his nemesis Nuremberg with their own sour pills to swallow. He kicked-off an emphatic 4-1 goal thriller against FCN, the club who along with VfL Bochum and Karlsruher SC lodged a complaint against the 21 year-old star to the German football governing body, accusing him of falsifying his identity. This followed a story published in the German tabloid newspaper the BILD, which claimed the Gambian's real name is not Bakery Jatta but Bakery Daffeh. But after investigations by the German football association, the case was dropped amid lack of evidence.
Jatta set the tone for this game after giving Hamburg the lead just 17 minutes from kick-off. The Gambian midfielder got on the end of a low cross from Polish midfielder Sonny Kittel and tapped in with his left foot from 3 yards out into the FCN net. Perfect! This was the start this game needs, adding fuel to the inferno and the noise at the Volksparkstadion was at fever pitch and that continued for the entire 90 minutes. It has given HSV fans the joy they desire in this tense encounter, an opportunity for them to reaffirm their adulation for the young Gambian star, whom they call 'family'.
If anything, just as in Mandinka saying 'Ning Koro Beh Ening Illa Kairo Tema, Aye Keh!' The Identity Saga has been a blessing in disguise for Bakery Jatta. It has brought him so close to the hearts of the HSV fans beyond comprehension, they adore him and loved him like a family member. You just have to visit his Instagram account and see the love the club fans have for the Gunjur-born star. He has close to fifty thousand (50,000) followers on the social media site, largely from the club's fan base.
They saw what happened to him as unfair, and some even alleged it was racially motivated, and thus they could not have wished for a better outcome in this first encounter since the allegation, against those they see as his enemies.
Goals from Lukas Hinterseer (penalty), Sonny Kittel (penalty) and substitute Gideon Jung secured the enthralling victory for a sweet revenge for Mr Jatta as he prepare to face another of his nemesis in VfL Bochum on Monday.
