Jaliba Kuyateh declares loyalty to Barrow, as UDP reels after shock loss

The Gambia’s biggest musician, Jaliba Kuyateh, yesterday made a declaration of loyalty to incumbent president Adama Barrow in a major blow for perennial opposition United Democratic Party.

The shift came in the aftermath of a thumping for the party of Ousainou Darboe in Niamina West and Kerr Jarga, where the newly minted NPP dispatched them in special parliamentary and councilorship by-elections.

Addressing the president and NPP faithful at the July 22nd Square in Banjul amid pomp and pageantry, the Kora maestro stated:

“Good evening Your Excellency, good evening the Vice President, honorable ministers here present. Just a few days ago, we gave you this promise we shall ever be beside you in support of your moves. We tell the people of this country you are the winners NPP. The reason he is winning is because he has a clean heart. It’s no surprise to me NPP are the winners. It’s no surprise to me Barrow is the winner”.
