The Gunjur Lower Basic School Kitchen & Dining Hall Project has taken a significant step forward with the receipt of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dalasis (D150,000) from the Kombo Sillah Association (KSA) - UK. This generous first installment will kickstart the construction of a much-needed dining hall facility for the school, aimed at enhancing the learning environment and overall well-being of students.
The funds were officially presented by Mr. Lamin Manjang, Ahmed Manjang, and Mr. Tijani Bojang - all esteemed members of KSA-UK. The organisation’s dedication and commitment to the development of Gunjur is commendable, and their continued support is a testament to the strong bonds between the diaspora and their community back home.

The implementation of the Dining Hall Project is being overseen by a dedicated Sub-Committee composed of the following members:
• Hon. Momodou Charreh Gibba – Ward Councilor
• Mr. Tijani Bojang – VDC Chairman
• Ms. Sirreh K. Janneh – PRO, Gunjur VDC
• Mr. Abdoulie Jammeh – Project Coordinator, VDC
• Mr. Hatab Jobe – Project Coordinator, Gunjur WDC

• Mr. Badara Bajo – KSA Representative
• Mr. Salifu Touray – GDF Representative
• Mr. Momodou Tusa Jatta – SMC Chairman
• Mr. Lamin Kafaranding Bojang – Vice Chair, SMC
The project will be executed in phases, with masonry work set to commence as the first step. This strategic approach ensures the efficient use of resources while maintaining a high standard of construction.
Receiving the money, the project implementation committee expressed gratitude for the generous contribution from KSA-UK, highlighting the importance of the dining hall in providing a conducive learning environment for the students.
The committee further extended their heartfelt appreciation to both the former and current leadership of KSA, under the guidance of Mr. Bakary Touray. Their unwavering support and commitment to community development have been pivotal in making this project a reality.
This project is a shining example of how collaborative efforts between local communities and the diaspora can bring about positive change. As the first phase of construction begins, the Gunjur community looks forward to witnessing the transformation that this facility will bring to the lives of young learners.
Together, we can build a brighter future for the children of Gunjur.
