Gunjur Development Fund raises D1.3 million in Quarter Two of the global fundraising drive

As the curtains are drawn for the quarter two campaingn of the GDF global fund drive for development projects in the sprawling coastal town of Gunjur, Gunjurians in the United States of America have yet again won the contest by raising a staggering D518,175 in three months largely due to huge individual contributions.

Momodou Scattred Janneh, aka MM parted with a colossal amount of $1500 as his quarter two contribution from the USA camp. This was followed by Ebrima Jatta (Bura)’s $1000 boost to tip the scale in favour of the Gunjur-North America.

But, Gunjurians at home roared back at second place yet again with a cool D451,690 raised on the ground to condemn the United Kingdom folks to 3rd place for the second time in a row.

However, the Gunjur foot soldiers in Great Britain are not simply going down without a fight as new strategies are already in motion to wrestle top spot from the North American rivals in Quarter three, having diagnosed the reasons behind the North America knock-out blow.

Retired Doctor and former Director of the Marlborough Brandt Group which is twinned with Gunjur, Dr Nick Maurice who is an Honorary Citizen of Gunjur boosted the U.K. fund with a massive £500 contribution. This gave the Island dwellers a sum total of D309,920.

Below is breakdown of funds raised in the Quarter Two campaign:

USA                   D518,175

GUNJUR         D451,690

UK                      D309,920

FINLAND         D36,850

SWEDEN         D5450

TOTAL             D1,322085.00

Reacting to the Quarter two results, Malang Darboe who is one of the GDF (UK) collection Cordinators commented:

“A remarkable achievement in this second Quarter too,  and we are grateful to all that have contributed, may the good Lord reward all abundantly, multiply their gains in this world and in the hereafter!

My only regret is that Gunjur didn't forcefully snatch the flag from the U.S. who should have been nudged to Secind position.

Once again, congratulations to all for being there for Gunjur

.. always!”

For his part, Pa Mambuna Bojang robbed salt into the wounds of the UK folks when the results were announced, raising the American flag with these words:

“ O say does that Star-Spangled Banner yet wave. O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave”

Fasaikou Darboe, one of the Ground team collectors thanked all those who answered to the call from Gunjur to North America, from United Kingdom, to Sweden by parting with their hard earned cash to contribute to the development of Gunjur.

Fasaikou specifically thanked Fasulay Touray and his wife in Gunjur-Freetown for an overwhelming show of support in the GDF fund drive in their area. He urged other areas of Gunjur to emulate Freetown.

The race is now on for Quarter three for a record sum of money ever to be raised via individual contributions for development projects in Gunjur.

Quarter two saw D1.2 million raised through this campaign. The funds were used to repair roads linking the town to major roads.
