During his “Meet The People’s” tour, Gambian President Adama Barrow has promised the people of Upper River Region with a new 4 Star Hotel, Fuel Storage facility and a brand new dry port with a view to making URR a regional economic hub.
President Barrow made these announcements at meetings in Basse and Gambisara as he continues with the constitutional requirement of touring the country to hear first hand accounts of challenges that are facing communities especially farmers.
Barrow assured the people of URR that plans are already at advanced stages for the dry port (which will be an annex of the port of Banjul), hotel and a fuel storage facility to fulfilled his government’s efforts to stimulate economic growth in the region.
According to President Barrow, his government’s latest move will compliment ongoing roads, bridges, Gambia college annex construction and development projects among others in the region that will transform Basse into a vibrant regional economic hub.
To ensure that these accelerated development projects in the region are fully implemented, President Barrow reiterated his call for the people of the Upper River Region to continue to support his development agenda 2018 - 2021 to boost economic growth not only in the URR, but the entire country.
