Gambia: State v Yankuba Touray at the High Court

The murder trial of former AFPRC junta member Yankuba Touray resumed at the High Court in Banjul on Monday 4th November before justice Ebrima Jaiteh.

When the case was called up, PW2 was cross-examined by defence counsel Abdoulie Sissohor. The defence counsel subsequently made an application before the court which will be ruled upon on adjournment date.

Counsel Sissohor made an application to the court that TRRC Executive Secretary Dr Baba Galleh Jallow should appear in court to deliver a document, if not, to show cause why he should not be sent to prison for failing to do so.


Yankuba Touray is standing trial on a charge of murder of Ousman Koro Ceesay, contrary to Section 187 of the Criminal Code Cap. 10 Volume 3 Laws of The Gambia 2009.


The case is adjourned to the 11th November 2019 at 10:30 to 12:20 for the continuation of the cross-examination of PW2, and ruling.

Yankuba Touray remains in custody at the Mile 2 central prisons until 11th November for final hearing and ruling.


Lawyer Abdoulie Sissohor is representing Yankuba Touray while the state is represented by defence counsel Yusuf.
