Former Speaker of the National Assembly, Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay faces arrest when he returns to The Gambia

Former Speaker of the National Assembly, Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay,stands in peril of arrest by Gambian police for entombment in witness tampering. She is currently out of the Gambian jurisdiction.

Responding to a request for comment by GunjurOnline, Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay noted:

“Tanx Sainey I appreciate you for doing the right thing. But wen I come to Gambia u can call me. Stay blessed”.

While delivering his testimony before the TRRC in which he recalled the execution of dozens of soldiers on the eve of alleged November 11 coup, as well as the assassination of former minister of Finance Koro Ceesay, Alagie Kanyi said he was contacted by both Yankuba Touray and Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay to withhold cooperation with the commission.

“I got a call from Yankuba Touray. He asked me if I was contacted by TRRC and I said yes. He told me ‘don’t worry about these people. They can’t do anything to you’. He told me they were the senior people so I should not worry. It was at that point I switched off my phone. Then shortly after I got a call from Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay. She told me she knew me as orderly for Edward Singhateh. I told her I was never orderly for Edward Singhateh, but only worked under Peter Singhateh at Gambia Armed Forces training school.

She then asked me if my mother was alive and I said yes. She advised me to take care of her and seek her prayers and blessing. But she asked me not to worry about TRRC. I was surprised because I never talked to this woman until Yankuba gave her my number to call me”.

Earlier in his testimony, Alagie Kanyi admitted to involvement with Yankuba Touray in the execution of Basirou Barrow, Fafa Nyang and Dot Faal.He also made further admission of involvement in the execution of other soldiers in Nyambai Forest closer to the conurbation of Jambur. The executed soldiers, he said,were later interred in a mass grave at Fajara Barracks.

Former minister of Finance Ousman Koro Ceesay, he disclosed, was killed at Yankuba Touray’s house in the latter’s presence.
