The recent community initiative led by Falcons FC of Gunjur, in partnership with Real de Gunjur and other contributors, has successfully provided 22 rubbish bins to the Gunjur market and Health Centre.
This initiative is part of a monthly cleaning exercise aimed at enhancing waste management and cleanliness in these public areas. Hatab Jobe, representing Falcons FC, expressed gratitude to all the partners involved in purchasing the bins and encouraged further community support to increase the availability of waste disposal facilities throughout Gunjur. This collective effort highlights the importance of local collaboration in promoting environmental hygiene.
At their cleaning exercise at the Gunjur market on Sunday morning, Falcons FC of Gunjur in collaboration with Real de Gunjur (formally known as “Rappers”), Ebrima Sisqo Touray of Tech World, Sweden based MamaKaddy Bajo, Nyabada Enterprise and Jamano Money Transfer presented a total of 22 rubbish bins of different sizes to the Alkalo.
The rubbish bins are to be placed around the Gunjur market and the Health centre for effective waste management for these areas.
Speaking at the presentation, Hatab Jobe of Falcons FC thanked all the parties who contributed in the purchase of the rubbish bins. Mr Jobe urged others to emulate the effort in donating towards this venture as they seek to expand the position of rubbish bins around Gunjur especially in public areas.
As part of their objectives of giving something back to their community, Falcons FC of Gunjur embarks on monthly cleaning exercises up and down the sprawling coastal settlement of Gunjur at the end of every month.
In June, Falcons returned to Gunjur Market to clean the market and dispose of the rubbish that was piled up due to lack of effective waste disposal mechanism.
The end of April 2024 saw the team cleaning a very busy part of Gunjur at the turntable on roads linking Gunjur to Kartong, Brikama and Sanyang this morning.
