Outgoing Justice Minister Abubacarr Tambedou has called for all hands on deck for the social economic development of our country The Gambia.

Ba Tambedou made the call at at press conference, Friday as he enumerated his achievements and challenges as AG for three and half years.


He said:


“On my part, I have initiated and delivered on the key pillars of our transitional justice process which has now achieved global recognition by experts as being among the best models in the world particularly for its inclusiveness and originality.”


Ba Tambedou paid tribute to the staff of the judiciary who at the time of his appointment were using pens and notebooks to prepare and research on cases.


“And in all of these processes, we were able to put together a team of talented and credible Gambians, and I wish to thank them for their service to the country.”, Ba Tambedou said of his staff.


On the freedom of speech and media, the outgoing Attorney General implored the media to report facts and desist from publication of false information on public officials as they too have families.


Ba Tambedou trended hisbresignation on June 1st on “Personal reasons” and will leave office at the end of June. GunjurOnline understands he will be taking up a new appointment at the United Nations.


Ba Tambedou’s successor as announced by the Office of the President of the republic of The Gambia will be former magistrate and private legal practicioner Dawda A. Jallow. He will take up the role from July 1st.
