Former vice Chairman of the AFPRC junta, Edward Singhateh, has disclosed that plotters of the foiled and bloody November 11, 1994 coup attempt had plans to execute members of the group and their families.
While offering his testimony on human rights violations committed under Jammeh from 1994 to his defenestration in 2016, Singateh said:
“Sanna Sabally came to my house and asked me to dress quickly because they were moving. He told me the coup was moving ahead and they had a plan to execute us and our family members.
I asked my brother Peter to get dressed to come with me to State House. He asked what the planned coup had to do with him. I told him some of the people involved had gone through him at the training school. He reluctantly dressed and I gave him my bullet proof jacket I got from Libya. My mother refused to go and stayed with my wife and sister”.
The foiled coup plot, in Edward Singhateh’s account, was animated by spread of fake news about senior members acquisition of cars and mansion which he characterized as “complete and utter nonsense”.
Edward Singhateh on Wednesday 16th October appeared before the Truth, Reconciliation, and Reparations Commission (TRRC) to give testimony before the Commision.
