By Sainey Darboe:
As part of his corporate social responsibility to contribute to escalating efforts to combat the spread of COVID 19, CEO of Doku group Gallo Saidy has donated D10,000 to the community of Gunjur.
Speaking in an interview with Gunjuronline on his charitable drive, Gallo acknowledged recognition of the lethal nature of the novel Corona virus which has impelled him to take action to complement government and global initiatives.
The award winning civil engineer, who trained and worked in New Zealand for many years, added:
“The objective is to spread the message to help in the efforts to prevent the spread of COVID 19 in our beloved country.Sometimes people do not take these things too seriously and those in the forefront trying to help do have limitations so a little help can go a long way. The relationship between Gunjur and Sukuta is also very unique, also scholars like Ustas Omar Bun Jeng, Hatab and many more are from Gunjur so it is a place that deserves help in anyway. Those reasons and more made me reach out to Gunjur”.
The Alkalo of Gunjur Giki Darboe expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Gunjur to Gallo Saidy and Doku Group for extending aid to them “in these challenging times”.
He pledged the community will ensure the aid is properly used in the best and most effective way.
Youth activist Omar Darboe said the assistance didn’t come a moment too soon, as Gunjur strengthens efforts to embark on mass sensitization of residents in order to prevent the spread of the global pandemic.
