Gunjur, The Gambia | Didcot Town Football Club (DTFC 1907) Boosts G.I.P Football Academy in Gunjur

In a heartwarming gesture of international support, Didcot Town Football Club (DTFC 1907), based in the UK, has provided a valuable boost to the G.I.P Football Academy in Gunjur. The donation of football kits and materials was made possible through the efforts of Tampeh Jobe and his long-time friends from the UK, who chose to support the U9s of the academy.

The football kits, generously donated by Didcot Town Football Club through Simon Barlou, were delivered to The Gambia by Sarah Roger and Craig Barlou. This act of kindness is a testament to the strong connection between Tampeh, his family, and their friends from the UK, who made the decision to contribute to the G.I.P Academy as a way of fostering the development of young footballers in Gunjur.

A Vital Contribution to Football Development

Hatab Jobe, the manager of the G.I.P Football Academy, expressed his sincere gratitude during the presentation of the materials. He emphasised the significance of the support, acknowledging how expensive it can be to maintain football academies in The Gambia.

“We know taking care of football academies in this part of the world is very expensive. If we were to spend on these materials it would have been very difficult as it requires a lot of money. That goes to show how vital these materials are for us. So we commend Tampeh and his friend for this great support,” said Hatab Jobe.

The donation includes essential equipment such as football kits, which will greatly benefit the U9s team. For an academy striving to nurture young talent, contributions like this play a critical role in ensuring that the players have the resources they need to develop their skills.

Strengthening International Ties

This is the first time that Tampeh Jobe and his friends have extended support to the G.I.P Football Academy, and it marks the beginning of what both parties hope will be a long-term partnership. The academy, which is committed to helping young athletes grow both on and off the field, now looks forward to fostering a fruitful collaboration with Didcot Town Football Club.

“We hope this will be the first of many more contributions to come, and we are excited about the possibility of building a strong relationship between our academy and Didcot Town Football Club,” added Jobe.

The G.I.P Football Academy is known for its efforts to provide training and opportunities for young Gambian footballers. With contributions from international supporters like DTFC and the guidance of local leaders, the academy is steadily building a foundation for success, both for the players and for Gambian football as a whole.

A Bright Future Ahead

This generous donation not only provides immediate support to the academy but also sets the stage for potential future collaborations between G.I.P Football Academy and the UK-based club Didcot Town FC. With such partnerships, the academy can continue to empower and inspire the next generation of footballers in Gunjur, giving them the tools they need to pursue their dreams.

The football community in Gunjur extends its heartfelt thanks to Didcot Town Football Club, Simon Barlou, Sarah Roger, Craig Barlou, and especially Tampeh Jobe for their unwavering support. As the G.I.P Football Academy continues its mission to nurture young talent, this contribution stands as a reminder of the power of international solidarity and the shared love of the beautiful game.
