Empowering Women, Transforming Communities
On Tuesday, December 10th, BE REEL successfully hosted a dynamic networking event for young female entrepreneurs from its community and network. The half-day event which took place in Gunjur, served as a platform for women to connect, share experiences, and grow their businesses while navigating the challenges of balancing personal and professional lives.
The event revolved around a central theme of “balancing personal and business activities while unlocking growth potential”. Participants explored strategies to transform their micro-businesses into sustainable income sources for themselves and their families. A key challenge highlighted during the event was the difficulty of separating personal and business activities, a recurring issue for many entrepreneurs.
The day featured:
• Collaborative learning sessions focused on practical solutions.
• Group presentations addressing real-life challenges and opportunities.
• Networking opportunities for participants to exchange ideas and build connections.
• Inspiring personal stories from volunteer participants who shared their journeys, motivating attendees to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
Speaking at the event, BE REEL’s Programme Director, Buba K. Touray emphasised BE REEL’s commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs, particularly in rural Gambia.
“Our primary purpose is to offer distinctive and complimentary micro-business training to participants in rural Gambia. Beyond our central mandate of delivering core training workshops, BE REEL provides additional support programs, including sharing events, mentorship visits, and networking opportunities for our alumni.”
With events like this, BE REEL continues to support and inspire female entrepreneurs, enabling them to overcome challenges and thrive as business leaders in their communities. The organisation remains dedicated to building a future where women can achieve economic independence and drive positive change.
