Somerset based basketball outfit Bath Basketball NBL roster has signed Gunjur born 19 year old prospect Demo Touray. The 6’8 basketball player becomes the latest addition to the Bath Basketball NBL roster.
Born in The Gambia to parents Muhammed Lamin Touray and Isatou Darboe, Demo joined the Bristol Storm U18 team when he arrived in the UK to pursue his basketball dreams. Demo lives in the city of Bath with his parents after moving to England. He then progressed to SGS College competing in the Elite Academy Basketball League (EABL) in the 2022/23 season.
According to Bath Basketball, the 6'8 forward will add great versatility to the team with impact on both sides of the floor. Still only 19, Touray possesses immense potential and gaining experience at the National League level will be crucial in his basketball development.
Reacting to the signing of Dembo Touray, National League Head Coach Antonio Wilburn said:“ I have been in talks with Dembo throughout the summer. Not only is he a true young talent, but also being from Bath, I wanted him to have the opportunity to play for his city and be a positive role model for younger players in the area. Dembo straight away brings speed, athleticism, and a mindset that shows he will go at anyone. He can play in the open court and has a handle that allows him to initiate the offence in the fast break. With his wingspan, he creates a lot of problems and is very disruptive on the defensive end. Another player who can play multiple positions and will fit in perfectly with this roster.”
On joining Bath Basketball NBL roaster, Dembo had this to say:“ I can't wait to start playing, with Coach Wilburn leading the way. We have a talented team, and I'm really excited to compete alongside my teammates. It's going to be a thrilling experience for me.”
