In a move that could potentially dispatch outgoing US president into apoplectic fury, Gambian president Adama Barrrow has joined other world leaders to congratulate his rival Joe Biden while Donald Trump continues to dispute the outcome of the polls.
Many leaders of powerful nations are holding out on making any pronouncements as the process goes through the legal rigmarole attendant to disputed elections.
A statement released by the Gambian president stated:
“His Excellency, President Adama Barrow on behalf of the Government and people of The Gambia congratulates President-elect Joe Biden for his victory in the elections of November 3rd 2020, and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, for becoming the first female to occupy such an office.
President Barrow looks forward to working with President-elect Biden for the mutual benefit of their two countries, and a stronger multilateral system”.
