By Sainey Darboe:
Banjul Mayoress, Rohey Malick Lowe, has scathingly criticized Minister of works and Construction Bai Lamin Jobe for lack of consultation with her office and the people of the city in the implementation of ‘Banjul transformation project’.
Addressing the minister in front of activists and senior cadre of The Gambia Ports Authority, Rohey Lowe clarified that she agreed to take part in the launching of the project, but she has not been consulted in the implementation phase, nor is she in possession of any project documentation despite efforts to lay hands on one.
The Mayor who recently got married to Gambian Embassy Protocol Officer in the US, Mbodge Saidykhan, lamented that she has been the subject of persistent enquiries about the project by Banjulians and activists which prompted her to put the matter to rest by directly confronting the minister.
Spooked by the lacerating comments from the UDP-supported mayoress, minister Bai Lamin Jobe seemed to be in agreement, if a little embarrassed by the latest episode in Banjul’s unfolding political drama.
