Live and smile for my people have distributed 45 bags of rice to forty five families in Gunjur earlier on Tuesday, 13th April 2021.

The handing over of the food aid to the families in collaboration with the organisation’s Gambian partner, the C.E.O of Nema Kuta garden and Eco lodge, Mr Alieu Darboe was held at Nema Kuta garden lodge.

Speaking to GunjurOnline, Mr Alieu Darboe revealed that the food aid to the 45 families is just the beginning of many special gifts to the needy people and that his lodge and partners will continue their efforts to support the needy and vulnerable in the community. Mr Darboe said that the gift emanated from his Finland based partners Kari Karuhula and families whom he extend gratitude and thanks for all for their support.

Ebrima Janneh of Gunjur Daru Saman who is a beneficiary of the rice gift expressed his delight in receiving a whole bag of rice, saying the gift is timely as he can now put resources in other urgent family needs instead of buying rice to feed his family. Mr Janneh thanked Mr Alieu Darboe and Live and Smile for the kind gesture especially the gift coming in the holy month of Ramadan.

Isatou Njiie, another beneficiary of the rice distribution said the beneficiaries will always pray for Mr Darboe and his friends for their kindness. Fatoumatta Jallow, a single mother of six who was accompanied to the lodge to receive the rice gift by Ahmed manjang also expressed similar sentiments. Madam Jallow’s husband passed away and she is left to provide for her children. Speaking about the timely gift to Fatoumatta Jallow, Ahmed Manjang said that many people in the community are struggling to buy a 50kg bag of rice, much more for a single mother.

Mr Manjang thanked Alieu Darboe and his partners for the wonderful gesture which came at the very right time as the month of Ramadan begins.
