Have you ever attended Gunjur Upper Basic School? Have you ever been a teacher or a volunteer at Gunjur Upper Basic School? If the answer is yes, then meet the newly formed alumni association of the great school renowned for producing great students who went on to do great things and contributed to the socio-economic development of The Gambia. Gunjur Upper Basic Alumni Association is a group of former students of Gunjur Upper Basic School. Their aim is bring together all former students of the school to collaborate and initiate activities geared towards the development of our members and the community as well as help give something back to a school where it all began for us. Reading through their Facebook page, the association had this to say: “Since inception in March 2018, we embarked on a series of cleaning exercises in the community of Gunjur. Our first activity was a cleaning exercise at the Gunjur Health Centre. As a development-oriented group, health is one of the key areas that the growth of any community heavily relies on. Thus informed our decision to keep it clean and tidy. Shortly before the Muslim Feast of Tobaski, we also cleaned the praying ground ahead of the celebrations.” In their bid to do something positive for their former school, the group embarked on a cleaning exercise of the premises of the school in readiness of the new school year as can been seen below: “As schools resume on Monday after the summer holidays, we decided to clear and clean the premises of Gunjur Lower Basic School ahead of the first day of school for the students. Our goal is to see a clean, healthy and productive community where each member plays a role in the development of the community. We are hopeful that our activities will inspire other people, especially the younger generation to be proactive in finding solutions to the problems of our community.” To be part of the Gunjur Upper Basic Alumi Association, find them on Facebook and like their page: Gunjur Upper Basic School Alumni on Facebook
