Delegates at Gunjur Sports Committee congress held on Sunday, 15th July 2018 have re-elected Lamin Darboe C as Chairman. The congress held at the Gunjur Day Care Centre saw club representatives scrutinise the financial and activity reports presented at the congress. There as a prolonged debate over money spent on matches of Gunjur Town team at the last Zonal tournament where a total of D175,450 was spent. Of the total amount spent on the Zonal competition, a staggering D90,250 was spent on match bonuses and motivation for players and coaches while D60,800 was spent on match preparations, according to the financial report.
The sports gathering which brought together club delegates affiliated with Gunjur Sports Committee deliberated on the way forward for sports in the sprawling coastal settlement, before finally electing the executive committee to steer the affairs of sports in Gunjur for the next three years. The President, Secretary General and Treasurer all spoke and presented their reports to the delegates during the course of the congress. At the election session, Lamin Darboe C was re-elected as Chairman of Gunjur Sports Committee for another term. He will be serving a third consecutive term in office. Alhassana Sanyang has been also elected as 1st Vice President while Pa Jalo Jabang gets the 2nd Vice President portfolio. Dembo Touray now becomes GSC’s Secretary General. He will be assisted by Kaw Omar Manjang and Demba Janneh respectively. Assan Jassey remains the Treasurer to be assisted by Amadou Cash Bajo. Meanwhile, Abdoukarim Darboe of Siffoe village will serve as Auditor, while Eliman Touray and Abou Sallah Barrow are elected as PRO 1 and PRO 2 respectively.
