Alieu Conteh Jr, son of Gunjur born Congo-based billionaire businessman has died, according to reliable reports. He was 28 years old at the time of his death, the cause of which is not known at the time of going to press. The last time the apparently outgoing Alieu Conteh Jr posted on Facebook was Monday February 19, 2018. It was to be his last post, and he unburdened himself by sharing his struggle with race and identity in America.
He wrote: “If you know me, you know I ain't even big on no movies like that.But this Black Panther film I gotta touch on. I went to see the film last night with Bunn & Shamiso and let me tell you.In my 28 years on this planet I've hnever been moved like I was last night while watching this film..I mean where to start? It was flawless, I mean perfect! The way they captured our values, our ways, our perspective was like never before. I still I cant believe it. For once a so called black movie wasn't about the typical slave narrative, nor about the light skin vs darkskin undertone, the ridiculous 'soul food' narratives or this wife cheated on this one and this husband cheated on that one...na none of that.This movie had integrity. From the way they depicted those Black women with such dignity and high rankings in our societies to the way they spoke down on the weave/fake hair culture...even the 'primitive' weapons of our oppressors. Thats us, thats who we are..thats our perspective”. Mindful not to smack of racial chauvinism, the deceased Conteh clarified at the end of his post: “We aint better than nobody, but we aint less than nobody either. We happen to be just DIFFERENT to everybody. You see the thing is, so many outsiders believe they can impose their values on to us..their way of thinking, their persoective on to us. That can never be. It will never resonate with us. You see for me to love you I gotta love me first..but to love me, I can't have been adulterated.I have to be me to the full extent..100% unapologetically Black at which point I can then love you for you. #BlackPanther”.
