Photo: Microbiologist Ahmed Manjang concerned about level of Hypertension in Gunjur As hypertension turns a silent killer in our societies, scientists and medical workers are raising concerns.
"After some conducted tests by some UK scientists and medical workers at Gunjur Kajabang clinic, 65% of the people tested were all proven High blood/hypertension positive! This is serious and something should be done about it."
These were the words of Ahmed Manjang a British trained Microbiologist at the King Fahad Medical Centre in Riyad while on his social media campaign to create awareness on this problem. For Manjang, if out of 23 tests, 15 becomes positive which is 65% of the people tested, then that's a clear indication that our societies are under a serious threat. The British trained Microbiologist outlined some causes of this life threatening disease are stress, obesity, excessive salt eating eg Maggi, Aja, Jumbo etc, because they contain too much salt. Hypertension can also be caused by smoking, lack of exercise, alcohol, old age, kidney problems, snoring as well as genetic. The Riyadh based scientist explains that "the normal blood pressure level should be between 120-129 but anything more than that is under the influence of hypertension." Amo as known by many advised people to exercise a lot, eat less salt, and stay away from stressful conditions. These he said will avert stroke that affect the normal inflow of blood to the brain which in many cases caused sudden deaths through heart attacks.

He concluded by calling on people to cooperate and turn out in numbers as several other tests will be conducted at the Gunjur Health Centre by these UK scientists and medical workers in collaboration with the Gunjur Development Association (GDA ) in the coming days and weeks.
