Buba Malick Touray has earlier accused the Majority leader and MP for Kombo South, Hon. Kebba K Barrow of interference in favour of his rival. Mr Gibba responded in a press release saying:
“This is to inform the General public that the testimony of Buba Malick Touray accusing the Hon Kebba K Barrow of interfering or manipulating the selection process or procedure is lies, malicious, misleading and divisive. It is very disappointing and disheartening to carry this unfounded story across the GDA platform which is not a political forum. Personally I have high regard for most members of the GDA and I do not want to drop any political views into that forum. However, I can understand that Buba Malick Touray is desperately looking for financial backing from GDA ,but I think he should be honest enough to give the true narrative”. Further discrediting allegations by Buba Malick Touray, Muncharreh zeroed in:
“The Hon. MP has never attended our meetings and I would like to inform you that Gunjur is a ward of its own. The Gunjur ward is comprised of these following settlements such as KAJABANG, MISIRA, SANTANGBA, MADINA KUNGKUNDING, FREETOWN, SAMBUYA and CENTRAL GUNJUR. All these areas are represented in the UDP GUNJUR WARD.
Guidelines for selection of councillors
The issue of LUNTANG(Settlers)or DOORING(Natives) in this context is maliciously misplaced, misleading, divisive and hypocritical. The national bureau of the UDP has issued a programme document on the modalities and procedures of the councillorship selection. This is the 2nd time he is misplacing the Hon. MP. It is false and malicious”.
In an audio message sent to the Gunjur Development Association (GDA) Telegraph Forum, Mr Buba Touray has accused the UDP Gunjur branch and in particular, the UDP MP of favouring Mr Momodou Charreh Jibba over him for the Ward Councillor position in Gunjur. Mr Touray expressed concerned that the correct process for the selection of candidates was not being followed and that the MP was personally taking charge of the process contrary to the internal rules of the UDP.. However, according to Mr Jibba, these claims are unfounded and that correct procedures are followed as stipulated by the rules governing the said process.
This medium made was unable to make contact with Mr Buba Touray after several attempts for his reaction on the rebuttal of his earlier allegation of interference in the selection process of a UDP Ward councillor in Gunjur by Hon. Kebba K Barrow in favour of Momodou Charreh Jibba.
