Nawettan Football: Newcomers continue to make surprises in Gunjur Nawettan



Giant killers -  Blaness FC

The- Pub and Blaness FC maintain their surprise performance in Gunjur nawettan as they edged pass Sibindinto and Reliance FC to reach the league semi-finals of the Green Vision and Golden Lead sponsored Gunjur nawettan.  


The-Pub FC

The-Pub defeated Sibindinto 1 - 0 with Omar Nyassi on target, while Blaness earned a surprised 2 - 2 draw against the champions Reliance before prevailing 4 - 2 on penalties.

Outstanding captain Yusupha Janneh who was almost playing Blaness on his own instigated and scored two brilliant goals while youngsters Yankuba Manneh and Yaya Touray spearheaded a fight back for the champions to level the score in normal time. Both The-Pub and Blaness came through the rank of eliminations. The Siffoe based outfit, The-Pub performed very well as they won all their games during the qualification rounds but, Blaness were knocked out in the first rounds of the qualifier. However, they were fortunate to have won the best looser ticket, before inflicting a revenge on Missira United in the last round of the qualifying rounds to enter the Nawettan proper. Interestingly, Blaness are now through to the semi-finals after killing several giants along the way, including the mighty Red Star FC, CommIT and Reliance.  


Reigning Champions - Reliance FC

The-Pub will now play the winner of FC Bax Vs Black Stars, while Blaness will take on either Ajax or Solid Properties in the semis.
