Gunjur Online (GNO) is a local news and information platform that serves the sprawling community of Gunjur in The Gambia. It was established in July 2017 by UK-based founder and CEO, Lamin Jammeh as a community news platform to provide news updates, articles, and community announcements relevant to residents and people with ties to the town. The platform covers local events, cultural activities, social, environment and climate change issues, youth and sports, as well as broader news affecting the Gambia.

The platform also operates online TV programming through Gunjuronline TV which carries live streams and broadcasts on YouTube and Facebook on issues affecting the communities. The aim is to provide a distinctive voice for Gunjur and it's surrounding villages. By extension, the platform also report on nation-wide issues that will affect people in the area - such as health, local political changes, environment, climate change, local business, sports, education, entertainment and culture.

Gunjur Online is the primary source of news in the area and bridges the information gap by providing a platform that gives voices to the communities and to promote the area's citizens, organisations and business enterprises. Gunjur Online aims to give our local communities the much needed focus they need and deserve and share their achievements as well as their problems that mainstream media does not offer them.

Our aim is to grow to be a force for good source of news, supplying a constant flow of news, features, information, and supporting initiatives to boost the communities and local economies.

As a social enterprise, income derived from advertising and sponsorship is deployed in two areas:  a) to maintain and develop the Gunjuronline.com news site and cover expenses incurred as a result of running the platform;  and b), to support local organisations and activities through regular contributions and sponsorship to these activities.
